Who are we?

The ‘My Wild Heart Bleeds: 150 Years of Sheridan Le Fanu’s ‘Carmilla” conference is run by Romancing the Gothic. Romancing the Gothic is a free education project which puts on weekly classes involving (more or less tangentially!) the Gothic, horror, folklore and the supernatural. You can find out more about the project here and watch any of our immense backlog of classes here.

Romancing the Gothic is run by Dr Sam Hirst, a lecturer in English literature at the University of Liverpool and lecturer in Nineteenth Century literature at Oxford Brookes. They can be found @romgothsam on twitter. Any queries regarding Romancing the Gothic can be sent to sam@romancingthegothic.com. Any academic inquiries not directly related to RtG can be sent to s.hirst2@liverpool.ac.uk

The University of Liverpool kindly funded a research associate for the ‘My Wild Heart Bleeds’ project and Dr Sam Hirst is joined by Emilia Hilton in organising the conference and running the social media. The ‘Meet the Authors’ content was designed by Emilia.
